We all love the glam of having long, luscious and thick eyelashes, and if you’re like me then you are perpetually jealous of men with their enchanting lashes that they don’t quite deserve! But, thankfully we have been graced with amazing waterproof mascara that helps extend our eyelashes and make them appear long and thick; and we need the waterproof side for those teary date-night movies. But it is important to know ways to remove waterproof mascara.
While we enjoy the amazing look and that empowered feeling, it can be quite a task to remove waterproof mascara without pulling out a few eyelashes or poking your eye. But, not to worry, we got your back on this one! Here are four ways to remove waterproof mascara with ease!
4 Ways To Remove Waterproof Mascara
1. Makeup Remover
This is probably the most obvious ways to remove waterproof mascara but is the most effective. Don’t use soap as it won’t help and will dry your eyes and pull some lashes out. Plus, there is that risk of getting soap in your eyes!
What You Need
- Cotton Balls
- Makeup Remover
How To
- Soak the cotton ball in the makeup remover and place it on your eyelashes.
- Let it sit for a few seconds and then gently wipe it off.
- Do not apply too much pressure as you could hurt your eye.
- Use a damp cloth to get rid of any excess remover.
2. Coconut Oil/ Almond Oil/ Almond Oil
The reason why I recommend that you use oil is because oil is the exact opposite of waterproof makeup. Waterproof makeup tends to dry and remove any elements of oil. So, using oil to remove waterproof mascara is perfect and cheaper than your makeup remover.
What You Need
- Cotton Pad
- Oil of your choice
- Soft Tissues
How To
- Soak the cotton pad in some oil and place the pad on your lashes.
- Allow the oil to soak through the mascara, breaking it apart and making it easier to remove.
- Gently swipe your eyelashes with the cotton pad will all the makeup is removed.
- Use the tissues to wipe the excess oil off your face.
3. Petroleum Jelly
Petroleum jelly is a heaven sent gift brought to earth especially for your lashes. Did you know that petroleum jelly can help you grow thick, long and luscious lashes naturally? Plus, it is a great way to remove waterproof mascara and other waterproof makeup like eyeliner, lipstick and that hard to remove glitter eyeshadow!
What You Need
- Cotton Buds
- Cotton Pad
- Petroleum Jelly
- Warm Face Cloth
How To
- Using your cotton bud, take a generous amount of petroleum jelly on it.
- Place the cotton pad under your lashes for support and gently sweep the cotton bud over your lashes to remove the mascara.
- Use a warm face cloth to remove any excess.
- You can leave some petroleum jelly on your lashes overnight for better growth but, beware that you do not apply too thick a layer as it could lead to heavy lids and infections.
4. Cold Cream
Cold cream is amazing to remove waterproof mascara as it dissolves the mascara easily and feels soft and cool on the eyes. It is also great to remove foundation and concealer and moisturizes the face at the same time.
What You Need
- Cold Cream
- Cotton Pad
- Warm Face Cloth
How To
- Take some cold cream on your cotton pad and gently sweep it across your lashes.
- Once the mascara is all removed, use the warm face cloth to remove the excess cream, using patting motions so that you do not stretch your skin.
Things To Remember
- Never use soap or any harsh item to remove your makeup and clean your face.
- Always remove excess product from your eyes to avoid infections.
- Always remove your makeup when you get home, especially mascara and eyeliner, as the product could flake and cause your eyes to get dry.
- Using makeup remover is good as long as you’re using a formula that is suitable for your skin.
- While using mascara is great, it is advised to give your eyes and lashes a break from makeup from time to time, as it can become very heavy on your lids.
